In the Pasifika cultures, songs make an important contribution to the languages and cultures of Pasifika peoples, and are part of everyday family life, church, and community events. They express the cultural values and demonstrate a wide range of effective language uses. Learning Pasifika languages through songs enables teachers and students to learn language and culture in a meaningful and authentic context that embraces and promotes effective language learning. This interactive workshop presents effective strategies for using Pasifika music, drama, dance and song in early childhood settings that will help build confidence for educators and enhance children’s literacy and numeracy skills. Links will also be made to Te Whāriki curriculum (1996) to reflect the importance of Pasifika music in the holistic development of children in early childhood education, Aoteaoroa. With the Pacific Island's language weeks happening every year and often running one after another, you can sometimes get so snowed under that you lose time for planning. We have designed this workshop to support you in implementing each one of the Pacific Island's languages and provide you with a greater understanding for culture, language, customs and traditions. After completion of this workshop you will also receive a 10% discount for all of our language week download kits we sell.
