Basic Te reo Māori and sentence structure Need help with your te reo Māori pronunciation? Need to orgniase some te reo pronunciation professional development for your teaching team? Many teachers stumble over their Māori pronunciation. They lack confidence in using te reo Māori resources in case they ‘get it wrong’. This workshop presents some easy ways to improve your pronunciation of te reo and uses simple children’s songs and other easy techniques to give you the confidence to speak and teach this beautiful language. This workshop is suitable for anyone who would like to improve their pronunciation skill level and learn how to introduce te reo Māori sentence structure games to children. This workshop will also work in partnership with preparing your for Māori language week! Part One – Basic te reo Māori pronunciation: Participants will be able to correctly pronounce New Zealand’s place names, people’s names and te reo words in common usage. An easy five point plan will break te reo pronunciation down in a way that can be easily understood by anyone – no matter what their ethnicity Participants will practice their te reo pronunciation in a fun and accepting environment with simple games and songs. People who do this workshop often report that they have a “light bulb” moment when the pronunciation of te reo finally makes sense!
