Chinese New Year – the Year of the Dog
Chinese New Year 2018.
This year the Chinese New Year celebrations, marking the beginning of a new year, will be held on 16th February. Based on the Chinese lunar calendar we will be celebrating the year of the Dog!
The Chinese New Year, also referred to as the Spring Festival, is about coming together, reuniting with family, eating delicious traditional food, and wishing good luck, wealth and happiness.
It is a perfect opportunity to incorporate Chinese traditions and culture into your daily practice where children, teachers and whānau will all enjoy being immersed in the cultural festivities throughout the day.
There are various ways to celebrate this event. We have done half of the work for you – by purchasing our ‘download kit’ you will have a few ideas, activities, images, facts and more to get you started.
